Mr. William Komu

Chief Economist

Mr. William Komu was appointed to the position of Chief Economist in July, 2020 and currently working in the SDGs Coordination Directorate. He was previously the Chief Economist and Head of Central Planning and Project Monitoring Unit at the State Department for Gender. He holds a Masters and Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi.

William has also attended various courses including the Strategic Leadership Development Programme, Kenya School of Government, Baringo; Women empowerment through technical and vocational education, Chennai, India; Business Process Re-Engineering, Kenya School of Government, Nairobi; Participatory Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Kenya School of Government, Nairobi; Policy Formulation and Implementation, Kenya School of Government, Nairobi and Project Planning and Management, Kenya School of Government, Nairobi  among others

He has a wide range of experience in National Development Planning; Economic Policy Formulation and Implementation; Tracking Implementation of Development Programmes/projects, Budgeting and Budget Execution; Strategic Planning as well as Performance Contracting and Management. He has extensive experience with UN Agencies in development and coordination of the implementation of various joint work plans.
