The annual parliamentary open day on SDGS held at parliament grounds 5th December 2023

This morning, the State Department for Economic Planning through the SDGs Coordination Directorate participated in the Parliamentary Open Day on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which took place at Parliament Grounds.

The annual event which is convened by the Parliamentary Caucus on SDGs and Business, brought together representatives from Parliament, Government, Development partners, United Nations agencies, Civil Society organizations, Private Sector and other stakeholders to jointly reflect on the important role of parliamentarians for the achievement of the 17 SDGs and explore partnerships for the goals.

Mr. William Komu, who represented the PS Economic Planning reiterated the Government commitment in working together with all stakeholders to realize the agenda by 2030.

Mr. Stephen Jackson, the Kenya United Nations Resident Coordinator emphasized on the importance of accountability by all stakeholders and especially public institutions like parliament in the implementation of the Agenda. He added that parliament had the legislative power and political will which are key in promoting inclusivity and promoting the SDGs implementation in the country.

The event was graced by over 10 members of parliament led by the chairman of the Caucus Hon. Dr. Gideon Ochanda and Vice-chair Hon. Martha Wangari among other dignitaries.
